Orchestra Anatomy

Writing Contest

Attention students! Enter the Concerts for Young People writing contest and win an opportunity to get up-close and personal with the Santa Barbara Symphony!

This year, entries may include essays, poems, short stories, or any writing project that fits within the one-page limit!

Subject:
What do you think it feels like to play in a symphony orchestra?
Close your eyes and imagine that you are sitting onstage as the conductor takes a bow and begins the concert.  What does your instrument look and feel like as you get ready to play it?  What are the sights, the sounds, the smells of the stage?  How do you feel as you play music that booms majestically, or creeps along quietly, or twirls and dances?  Let your imagination run wild.

Length                                    One page or less
