AMI LEVY

The recipient of the “America-Israel Cultural Foundation for Young Artists” Honorary Award before graduating from high school, Ami pursued his violin studies under professor Yair Kless at the Rubin Academy of Music in Tel Aviv, Israel.  During this time he performed in numerous chamber music and symphony orchestras concerts with the Rubin Music Academy Symphony, Israel Young Philharmonic under Zubin Mehta, and the Kibbutz Chamber Orchestra under Noam Sheriff, Yoav Talmi, Iona Brown & Sidney Harth. During his decade long tenure with them, he toured Europe twice where he performed at such capital cities as: Paris, London, Berlin, Brussels and Madrid as well as other major cities. He also toured both Mexico and the U.S. on both East & West Coasts.

An invitation to the Strawberry Creek Festival in Malibu California, brought him a year later to the Thornton School of Music at USC, as a recipient of a full merit scholarship with the celebrated violinist and professor, the late Eudice Shapiro. Thanks to her  guidance and inspiration he received his Advanced Studies certificate with "outstanding achievement".

He performed extensively with such orchestras as: Hollywood Bowl orchestra, L.A. Jewish Symphony, New West, Glendale, & Santa Barbara Symphonies. He also performed with the late Luciano Pavarotti & "The Three Tenors-2000 tour" at L. A., Las Vegas, and again in 2001 at Indian Wells. He was on tours with Donna Summers, and played for Alicia Keys and Deborah Voigt as well as for Andrea Bocelli and others during summer concerts at the Hollywood Bowl.  His frequent solo and chamber music appearances include a strong Jewish musical emphasis, which brought him to perform and interpret more contemporary pieces like ''Intra" (Sept. 2001) by the L. A. composer and violinist Haim Shtrum that was recently recorded with violinist Robert Korda.

 Among his freelancing areas: Solo & chamber music appearances, music for special events, records & film score recordings. He recorded for Ben Wright a winner of the Grammy Awards, for Christina Aguilera and for many movies: “Spiderman 2”, “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”, “After The Sunset”, "The Green Mile", "The Space Cowboys", and "Legally Blonde" among others. Recently he was featured on “Desperate House wives” as a strolling violinist and also sidelined on TV series, video & films like: “Dirty Sexy Money”, “The Wedding Bells”, “Ray”, "Fantasia 2000", "Wild Wild West" and "The Magnificent Seven".

Ami Levy is the founder and the director of  “The Magic of Classics” - Music Ensembles and he co-founded the “Tzavta” String Trio. His group specializes in many styles of music, including: Classical, Jewish, Klezmer, religious, and Broadway standards.  Their demo CD is available upon request.
