Elementary School Programming
Elementary School Programming is the beginning of the Music Education Center trajectory. The programs provide free weekly lessons and instruments to approximately 140 young musicians. The lessons occur in groups of 3-6 students and are divided into levels. This program gives musical training to many students that would not have otherwise considered taking up an instrument. The Music Education Center works with the school districts to guide and ensure that a need is met that cannot be filled by district funding. It is the goal of the Elementary School Programming that students will join the Santa Barbara Junior Orchestra and begin to move through the Music Education Center continuum.
The Music Education Center supports 3 programs which are currently operating in the Goleta, Hope and Santa Barbara school districts.
String Workshop in Goleta Union School Distrct
Beginning to intermediate string players in the GUSD can enroll in after school lessons.
Violin Workshop in Hope School District
Currently, beginning violin lessons are offered in the Hope School District.
