Endowment and Planned Giving

Plan a Gift and Endow the Future

The Santa Barbara Symphony maintains a permanent Endowment fund to secure the orchestra’s artistic, cultural, and education programs for future seasons. The Endowment is a protected fund and every gift to the Endowment generates a defined annual gift to the Symphony. Meanwhile, the principal gift remains intact and appreciating in the Endowment where the funds are conservatively invested to grow over time.

The Endowment Trust is comprised of:

  • Gifts that immediately contribute to cash available to invest within the Trust such as cash, grants, appreciated securities and closely held stock, personal property, real estate including partial interests, and life insurance.
  • Gifts that are deferred until after the death of a donor. These planned gifts bequeath remaining funds to the Symphony and take the form of:
    • Simple bequests or wills that leave specific items or cash for the Symphony,
    • Charitable Remainder or Lead Trusts that provide tax benefits and cash flow during the lifetime of the donor
    • Other financial vehicles that the donor’s estate attorney and financial managers design to maximize lifetime benefits for the donor.

Endowment gifts are also an excellent way for donors to maximize their donations as a gift to the Endowment will generate annual gifts in perpetuity greater than the equivalent gift made in annual donations. We invite you to join the company of these visionaries who support the long term viability of the Symphony. Help us plan for the future as your plan for yours. You can immediately contribute to the Endowment Trust. Demonstrate your personal commitment to the long-term fullness of Santa Barbara life and culture and to an enriched education for our youth.
