Finely Tuned Santa Barbara Symphony Marks 65-Year History with Focus on Future

The Santa Barbara Symphony celebrated its 65th anniversary last year by looking back at a rich history of storied performances. At the same time, the organization was looking forward to growing its educational programs and a host of diverse performance opportunities.

“We want to bring a musical experience, beautiful and powerful, to the people who live in Santa Barbara, to unite them through music, to enrich their lives through music,” Nir Kabaretti, the symphony’s music and artistic director, told Noozhawk.

Continuing its 65th Anniversary season, the Symphony presents a triad of works including Schwantner’s Chasing Light, Beethoven’s Triple, and Schuman’s Symphony No. 3

This February, The Santa Barbara Symphony continues their 65th Anniversary season with a performance of Beethoven’s Triple, under the baton of Maestro Nir Kabaretti, on Saturday, February 16 at 8:00 pm and Sunday, February 17 at 3:00 pm at The Granada Theatre.

The Santa Barbara Symphony Presents Pictures at an Exhibition, a Multisensory Performance Combining Music, Animation & Film

Kicking off the New Year in celebratory fashion, the Santa Barbara Symphony presents a one-of-a-kind, multimedia performance on January 19 & 20

The Santa Barbara Symphony continues its 65th Anniversary season by kicking off the New Year with two performances of Pictures at an Exhibition, on January 19 at 8:00 pm and January 20 at 3:00 pm at The Granada Theatre. Maestro Nir Kabaretti will lead the Santa Barbara Symphony in a one-of-a-kind multimedia presentation of Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, featuring an animated film created by students and graduates at the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Additionally, the symphony will perform Brahams' Double Concerto for Violin and Cello, featuring concertmaster Jessica Guideri and principal cellist, Trevor Handy.
